  1. What does "petite" mean ?

According to the retail/fashion industry, petite defines a woman who is under 5’4 tall.  Some stores, particularly those in the UK cater to those who are under 5’3.  Petite sizes are not only cut shorter, but also narrower to fit a smaller frame.  Therefore, a size 4P is slightly narrower than a regular 4.

  2. What is the best store for petites?

Personally?  I like Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft and J.Crew.  It really depends on the person and what she likes to wear.  If you’re into clubbing clothes, then you might find it difficult to find well-fitting clothes without having to go to the tailor.

  3. What's the difference between petites and juniors?

Petite women are under 5’4, usually sized evenly like their “misses” counterparts, while juniors sizes are usually odd-numbered with younger styles for teens.  Both styles are narrower than misses sizes.

  4. Are you going to have more stories/rants on this site?

Of course!  Just send them over to us via e-mail

  5. What about store reviews?

Currently, there are three store reviews. They can be found here. More will come and as readers, you are free to contribute your own! Please e-mail them to me.

  6. Why are you doing this?

Because I do not feel petites have a strong enough voice. For years, plus-sized women have called for more "curvy" models in magazines, and now you see plus divisions in many top modeling agencies. Not so for petites. In order to truly accept all sizes, we must include all heights and not just have taller girls who have curves. Besides, a 5'2 girl who wears size 2 is much more "realistic" than someone who is 5'10.
